Shufukai Japan Tour/秀風会ジャパンツアー

5 members of Shufukai went to Japan to practice kendo!

We went to Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka and Kyoto to visit 10 different places and practiced 12 times with in 10days out of 13 days we were in Japan and watch the All Japan Kendo Championship Tournament in live. (Ogimura-sensei practiced 13 times in 11 days!)

Everyone had a great time practicing Kendo and drinking while in Japan.

Activities on the days we didn’t have a practice:

-Watch All Japan Kendo Championship Tournament in Budokan.

-Sightseeing in Kyoto

-Visited Ebisu Beer Museum and O-Edo Onsen (Public hot spring bath)

-Drinking and Drinking and Drinking

We met several Shufukai alumni members, AEUSKF alumni members as well as a lot of people both we knew and for the first time.

We learned so much in Kendo and all of brought back a lot of homework to improve our kendo.

Thank you very much for all senseis, friends, and supporters for your hospitalities, kendo lessons, guidance and kindness to make our trip so meaningful and unforgettable.

We were so lucky and honored to meet all of you.

５人の秀風会メンバーが剣道修行のため日本を訪れました。

東京、福岡、大阪，そして京都を回り，１０の道場にお邪魔させて頂き，１２回もの稽古を日本に滞在した１３日間のうちの１０日間でやり遂げました。（荻村先生は１１日間で１３回）また，全日本剣道選手権大会を武道館で生観戦する事も出来ました。

参加者全員が稽古に飲みにとおおいに楽しみ、とても有意義な時間を過ごしました。

日本では元秀風会メンバー、元全東部剣道連盟のメンバーや，その他の懐かしい面々との再会、そして新しい出会いも沢山ありました。

その出会いの中で，沢山のことを学び，またこれからの剣道上達のための沢山の宿題をボストンに持ち帰りました。

先生方、剣友の皆様，そして，今回のツアーを支えてくださった皆様の、献身的で親切なおもてなし，ご指導，そしてサポートに大変感謝しております。

御陰さまで，一生忘れることの出来ない，有意義な日本ツアーとなりました。

皆様との出会いは本当に幸運で素晴らしいものでした。

The 12th Goyokai Tournament 第１２回五葉会剣道大会

The 12 Goyokai tournament was held on October 22 and 23, 2011. This time we had 140 participants and there were hot matches in all divisions.

Especially we had 14 youth participants this year (we had 6 last year) and they competed in individual division (Youth division) and also in a team division. (Boston v.s. New York).

All children were so excited, but audiences were more excited as they were at Boston Red Sox vs. NY Yankees. All kids seemed enjoy their match.

第１２回五葉会剣道大会が１０月２２日、２３日にわたって行われました。

今年は１４０人が集まり、子供の部、女子級、男子級、初段、２段、３段、４段以上、団体それぞれの部で熱戦が繰り広げられました。

特に今年は子供の部が１４人集まり（去年は６人）個人戦とボストン対ニューヨークの対抗戦も出来ました。周りの大人の方が伝統の一戦ボストンレッドソックス対ニューヨークヤンキース（日本でいう巨人阪神戦）さながらの盛り上がりでした。子どもたちもとても楽しかったと喜んでくれていました。

2011 AUSKF ２０１１年全米剣道大会

The All US Kendo Championship was held on August 12 and 13, 2011 in Atlanta.

Ogi and Tim from Shufukai and Toshimi from Boston Kendo Kyokai were selected and participated in the tournament representing All Eastern Kendo Federation.

Toshimi-san got a second place in Women’s division and Men’s team got a second place in Team division where Tim competed in Ji-ho and Ogi in Taisho.

The AEUSKF team members were selected through the first and second tryout those were held in September 2010 and May 2011. Since the first tryout, the team candidates met once a month in 2010 and twice a month in 2011 to have a team practice. Ogimura-sensei was assigned as a team coach and led the practices.

全米剣道大会が２０１１年８月１２日、１３日とジョージア州アトランタで行われました。荻村先生とティムが我が秀風会から，そして吉田先生がボストン剣道協会から，全東部米国剣道連盟の代表として選出され，大会に出場しました。

吉田先生は女子の分で準優勝、男子チームも団体戦で準優勝という素晴らしい成績を収めました。男子団体戦にはティムが次鋒、荻村先生が大将として出場しました。

全東部米国剣道連盟の代表選手は２０１０年９月に行われた１次選考会、２０１１年５月に行われた２次選考会によって選出されました。１次選考会のあと、２０１０年の間は月に１回，２０１１年に入ってからは月に２回、チームの強化練習が行われました。

荻村先生が連盟チームのコーチとして任命され，彼の指導のもと稽古を積んできました。
